Dr. Lucas Sanchez is an Assistant Professor at the New Mexico State University School of Social Work. He received his BA from the University of New Mexico, MSW from New Mexico State University, and DSW from Tulane University. Dr. Sanchez has clinical experience in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings, as well as experience in research and administration/leadership. Dr. Sanchez maintains a clinical caseload in an outpatient psychotherapy practice alongside an active research agenda. He intends to continue expanding upon his doctoral research that focused on sexuality, traumatic grief, and post-loss recovery in young widowhood. He remains passionate about closing the gap between social work education, research, and clinical practice.
