Biography

Dr. Sterling Brown has taught with New Mexico State University since 2017 and has instructed courses in mental health, research, human behavior in the social environment, and advanced practice with individuals and groups. Dr. Brown received his BS degree in Psychology at Brigham Young University in 2011, his MSW from New Mexico State University in 2013, followed by a Doctorate in Behavioral Health from Arizona State University, with an emphasis in integrated behavioral health and clinical practice. 

Since early in his undergraduate studies Dr. Brown has worked in a variety of positions, largely in the world of psychiatry and mental health. These have included individual and couples psychotherapy, case management, medical/psychiatric social work, and as a Clinical Director at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. His academic interests lie largely in integrated behavioral health, intervention efficacy for severe mental illness, and improving education for psychotherapists as the field continues to grow and expand.
